Evaluation & Repair of Concrete Structures - Part I (5 credit hours/5 HSW Hours)
This 5 hour course provides guidance on evaluating the condition of the concrete in a structure, relating the condition of the concrete to the underlying cause or causes of that condition, and selecting an appropriate repair material and method for any deficiency found.
US Army Corps of Engineers

·         The student will have knowledge of how to conduct an evaluation of the concrete in a concrete structure and to determine the scope of the work required.

 

·         The student will have knowledge of the causes of distress and deterioration of concrete.

 

·         The student will have knowledge of how to relate symptoms to causes of distress and deterioration.

 

·         The student will have knowledge of the properties of repair materials, as well as, necessary application conditions and service conditions.

 

·         The student will have knowledge of the process for selecting the appropriate repair material for a particular structure.

 

·         The student will have knowledge of the considerations necessary for categorizing the repair for either cracking or spalling.
