False Alarm Prevention (ECLB#0800183) satisfies 2 hr False Alarm Prevention (2 credit hours)
This 2 hour course will provide the student with knowledge regarding the most common types of alarm systems, accessories, and causes of false alarms generated by each.  By understanding the functionality of these systems and accessories, a technician/installer will be more capable of troubleshooting and preventing a false alarm.  Further, the information provided in this course will assist the technician/installer in educating the consumer on avoiding false alarms.

The student will understand the importance of and possess the knowledge to select and correctly install the appropriate system and/or accessories including the significance of appropriate location of the equipment as regards preventing false alarms.

 

The student will gain knowledge to troubleshoot equipment for the purposes of preventing false alarms.

 

The student will understand the importance and have the knowledge to provide the consumer with valuable information on operation of the equipment and preventing false alarms as well as how to address false alarm issues when they arise.

 

The student will understand how false alarms affect public safety by diverting the attentions of authorities and how costly this can become for the consumer and taxpayer.

This course is accepted for contractors with licenses issued by the Electrical Contractor Licensing Board. (ECLB)
