ADA Course I: Guidelines for Buildings & Facilities (AIA - TCEAA1) (4 credit hours/4 HSW Hours)
This 4 hour online course clarifies the ADA Guidelines for accessibility to places of public accommodation and commercial facilities by individuals with disabilities. The Americans with Disabilities Act (1990) requires that new construction and alterations to existing facilities comply with the ADA Guidelines for Buildings and Facilities. The course focuses on the details of the general design requirements for buildings and site elements such as parking lots, walking surfaces, and ramps. In addition, the ADA Guidelines Appendix contains materials of an advisory nature and explains the minimum requirements of the ADA Guidelines.
