This seven hour online course will provide information and training on construction industry laws and rules, wind mitigation, green design and construction, and disaster recovery and design.

2) Wind Mitigation Methodologies – 50 minutes

a. Florida Building Code requirements.

c. Strengthening roof-decking attachments and fasteners during reproofing

d. Application of improved roof-to-wall connections.

 

3) Green Design and Construction - 150 minutes 

a. Definition and purpose of green design and construction

b. Green building standards and certifications

c. Applications of green design

d. Green construction practices

e. Advantages of green design and construction

 

4) Disaster Recovery and Design - 100 minutes

a. Definition of modern day disasters that impact construction

b. Recovery procedures for various types of disasters 

c. Application of inspection techniques for disasters

d. Prevention and mitigation of damages caused by various types of disasters

Laws and Rules – Chapter 489 

The student will gain an understanding of constructing industry licensing laws. 

The student will be able to determine licensing requirements. 

 

Wind Mitigation Methodologies 

The student will gain an understanding of Florida building code requirements for wind mitigation. 

The student will learn how to apply techniques for gable-end bracing. 

The student will learn how to strengthen roof-decking attachments and fasteners during reroofing 

The student will learn how to construct improved roof-to-wall connections.

 

Green Design and Construction 

The student will gain an understanding of the purpose behind green design and construction. 

The student will be able to identify existing green design and construction certification programs. 

The student will be exposed to various approaches and practices that can be applied to green building. 

The student will be able to understand the advantages of green design and construction.

 

Disaster Recovery and Design 

The student will be able to identify the causes of various modern day disasters. 

The student will be able to apply recovery processes for various disasters. 

The student will gain an understanding of inspection techniques for disasters. 

The student will gain an understanding of prevention and mitigation techniques that may be applied for various disasters.

Certified Construction Industry (CILB) Contractors - This course, taken in conjunction with '7 Hour Online Course #3' will satisfy all 14 hours that are required for your continuing education that is due on August 31st, 2010.

Registered Construction Industry (CILB) Contractors - This course, taken in conjunction with '7 Hour Online Course #3' will satisfy all 14 hours that are required for your continuing education that is due on August 31st, 2011.

Pinellas County Specialty Contractors - This course, taken in conjunction with '7 Hour Online Course #3' will satisfy all 14 hours that are required for your continuing education that is due on September 30th, 2011.

Electrical (ECLB) Contractors - This course has not been approved by your board.  You may not take this course for continuing education credit.
