This seven hour online course will provide necessary information for those practicing construction on the topics of workers' compensation, advanced building code requirements, business practices relative to risk management and contract dispute management.  The objectives of this course are to provide current industry information and trends on the state required topics.

Worker’s Compensation 

The student will be able to define and understand worker compensation insurance.

The student will understand the current changes and concerns.

 

Advanced Building Code 
 
Once completed, this course will improve the participant’s ability to understand, interpret and apply the requirements of the 2010 edition of the Florida Building Code, Building Volume.


Safety

 

The student will become aware of respiratory hazards in the work place.

The student will gain an understanding of what the OSHA respiratory program requirements are. 

 

Contract Dispute Management

The student will able to define the different types of contract disputes.

The student will learn common reasons that disputes arise.

The student will understand different tactics to resolve disputes.

The student will be able to implement different approaches to resolving disputes.

The student will be exposed to the management of construction claims.

The student will learn the importance of avoiding disputes.

The student will become familiar with how to avoid contract disputes.

  

Risk Management 

The student will be able to define the purpose of project risk management.

The student will be able to execute risk management techniques on a project.

The student will be able to define the benefits of risk management.
