Storm Water: Sediment and Erosion Control (7 credit hours/7 HSW Hours)
This 7 hour course presents commonly used measures for sediment and erosion control in construction site design. In a question/answer format the characteristics of the construction site are examined. Next the course outlines which stabilization controls are best suited to the varying conditions. The course also includes an erosion and sediment control checklist for practical use in the field.

At the end of this course the student will have an understanding of the most commonly used measures today for soil erosion and sediment control.
 
The student will understand how to minimize the amount of disturbed soil.
 
The student will understand how to prevent runoff from offsite areas from flowing across disturbed areas and slow down the runoff flowing across the site.
 
The student will understand how to incorporate dikes, swales and drains into their storm water plan.
