Belt Filter Presses - Part 4 - Force & Pressure Calculations (2 credit hours)
Part 4 of this series describes the use of a spread sheet to do design calculations for any design project.  The spread sheet handles the main labor in calculating the loads within an operating belt filter press.  The lesson describes all the necessary load and pressure forces.  Explanations are given for the mathematical methods to determine the loads on rollers, bearings and structures.  Belt tension and its effect on the process stream is explored and explained in detail.  The calculations are sequential, so the use of a spread sheet is a natural adaptation for this tedious, but important work.  Spread sheets are ideal for sequential calculations where the result of one step is needed as input for the next step.  Example illustrations of actual belt filter press calculation spread sheets are included.
