This course presents an analysis of how the world can profit from engineers and architects becoming a part of the solution to climate change through economically attractive contributions to the built and transportation environment.

Upon completion of the course, the student should understand the Specifics and economics of zero energy building technologies, including the health, safety and welfare benefits achieved through energy-efficient ventilation. 
 
The student should understand the importance of rapidly and cost-effectively eliminating all greenhouse gas emissions by electric utilities so other sectors can replace fossil fuel use with clean electricity, resulting in major health, safety and welfare benefits to society. 
 
The student should understand the importance of achieving zero greenhouse gas transportation technologies and how they will improve the health, safety and welfare of the public by improving air quality and slowing the increase in atmospheric greenhouse gas concentration.
 
The student should understand the role of government in promoting aggressive reduction in greenhouse emissions and why such action is needed to ensure the health, safety and welfare of the public.
