- Students will learn to recognize the major bridge components and shapes.
- Students will learn the common connections.
- Students will become aware of the characteristics of decks, superstructures, and substructures.
- Students will become familiar with the types and function of bearings.
- Students will learn about bridge design loadings.
- Students will understand a bridge’s response to loadings.
- Students will learn about bridge movements.
- Students will learn about bridge design methods, bridge ratings, span classifications, and bridge roadway interactions.
- Students will understand the concept of redundancy as it applies to bridge design.
- Students will become familiar with the various types of bridge foundations.
