Electrical Trends: Electric Vehicle Charging, Home Automation and PowerWalls (2 credit hours)
This 2 hour webinar is designed for engineers, architects and contractors who are interested in the direction where the electrical industry may be headed over the next decade. It focuses on the effect of electric vehicles becoming commonplace and the options for providing electricity for the vehicles.  It also explores the real possibility that electric vehicles will be used to store electrical energy for use by the grid at critical times. In addition, it deals with the complexities behind the smart home (home automation) movement by discussing the pros and cons of various communication protocols when used with a wide variety of home automation products.  Selection options are presented for many of the currently available devices. Finally, the advent of the powerwall is discussed in terms of its effect on standby power systems and grid stabilization.
