In the world of construction, if a process or product can be made or finished quicker or installed easier, those advantages translate directly into either a lower price or a higher profit margin. That is the primary motivation driving the increasing use of prefabricated building components, including entire premade buildings, in the marketplace.
This course examines multiple aspects of this growing trend. It examines the history of such practices, the components or units which are available prefabricated, opportunities to further expand the practice and the pros and cons of planning to use such pieces in a new building project. It discusses prefabrication from the assembly of small pieces, the creation of major building components, the ordering of pre-engineered structures of steel and other materials.
Whether in whole or in part, prefabrication has proven valuable enough that those processes will remain in use for quite some time.
