Electrical Principles and Practice (ECLB #0007732) satisfies 7 technical credits (7 credit hours)

This  course will provide the student with basic concepts in electrical principles and applications.  An overview of electrical theory, along with circuit calculations is presented.  The course will also review applications that electricians, contractors, and engineers will encounter in their normal day to day work.

The student will understand the basic theory of electricity and magnetic fields.

 

The student will understand how circuits operate and be able to translate these circuits to real world applications.  The student will know the materials required in these real world applications.

 

The student will gain knowledge of electrical grounding and how noise can affect various components and systems.

           

The student will understand how motors work in all the above systems.

 

Finally, the student will understand safety concerns and the main organizations and codes that publish electrical standards.

This course has been approved for credit by the ECLB.

This course is not currently accepted by the CILB.
