Indiana Statutes and Rules Applicable to the Practice of Professional Engineering 2020 Update (1 credit hours)
This one hour course will cover statutes and rules of the Indiana Board of Professional Engineers. The course contains actual excerpts from the statutes as well as the disciplinary process used against licensed professionals. Finally the course provides examples of disciplinary actions taken by the board.  This course will satisfy the required hour covering statutes and rules.  
 
This course is based on excerpts from the 2019 edition of the Title 25 Article 31 PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERS of the Indiana Code and the December 3rd, 2019 update of Article 1.1 – GENERAL PROVISIONS of Title 864 of the Indiana Administrative Code.

This course teaches the following specific knowledge and skills:      

 
Students will learn the requirements for maintaining their licenses, including the total number of professional development hours (PDHs), rules for documenting continuing education, and payment of fees.
 
Students will know the “Rules of Conduct” expected to be followed by professional engineers.
 
Students will know the requirements for sealing drawings and plans.
 
Students will understand the terms used commonly in the disciplinary process.
 
Through case studies, students will become familiar with the operation of the State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers in monitoring and disciplining professional engineers who violate statutes and rules governing professional conduct.
This course satisfies the at least 1 hour of mandatory Indiana statutes and rules applicable to the practice of professional engineering for Indiana Professional License renewal.
