This 1 hour course provides an overview of basic electrical safety on the job. OSHA standards for electrical safety are referenced. Causes and effects of electrical shocks on the human body are described. Equipment and procedures for protecting workers are discussed. Resources provided by OSHA are identified.

| Learning Objectives |
- This course teaches the following specific knowledge and skills:
- The student will learn about common conductors and insulators, and the effect of moisture.
- The student will learn about the various causes and effects of shocks.
- The student will understand the types of injuries resulting from current flow through the body.
- The student will be aware of the types of protection available: guarding, insulating, grounding, and installing circuit protection devices.
- The student will learn how to avoid the dangers of overhead power lines.
- The student will learn what assistance is available from OSHA.
